River City Mixed Chorus Presents
Sing Truth to Power featuring the Nebraska debut of The Man Behind the Dream
June 16 at the Holland Performing Arts Center
The River City Mixed Chorus (RCMC) presents Sing Truth to Power, featuring the Nebraska debut of The Man Behind the Dream, the story of gay civil rights activist Bayard Rustin. The performance will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at the Holland Performing Arts Center in downtown Omaha.
The Man Behind the Dream will be featured in the first half of the concert and tells the inspirational story of Bayard Rustin who was the chief organizer of the 1963 March on Washington, where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech. The concert’s second half will include moving songs of diversity and empowerment from Broadway and film. Singing with the Chorus to help tell the inspiring story of Rustin will be special guests Carole Jeanpierre-Finch and D. Kevin Williams.
“This concert is exciting not only because we get to tell the story of Bayard Rustin, but also because it gives us the opportunity to collaborate with other soloists and choruses in the Omaha community to bring his story to life,” said RCMC Artistic Director Dr. A. Barron Breland.
Reserved seating for Sing Truth to Power starts at $20 and can be purchased through TicketOmaha.com or by calling the Ticket Omaha box office at 402.345.0606. Buy your tickets here: https://bit.ly/2GA67W1
